Sexual Abuse Freedom & Education
Equipping Men & Women to overcome - not just survive.
One of the biggest difficulties of sexual abuse is the whole issue of silence. Approximately, 21% females and 11% of males have been through some form of sexual abuse by the time they are sixteen and yet most people never speak about it, because they are usually too ashamed, or think that maybe it was their fault or that there is something they could have done to prevent it.
There are long and short term effects of sexual abuse. Eg: relational difficulties, intimacy, trust, negative view of self and others, difficulty managing emotions, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, volatile behaviour and low self esteem.
SAFE offers educational and support workshops which we seek to make available to anyone in our community who have been affected by sexual abuse. SAFE is two-fold in that it aims to help people who have been affected by sexual abuse as well as equipping parents, carers, volunteers and workers with skills and training to help prevent abuse from happening in the first place. With training and education, SAFE aims to help people in a practical way, by receiving the support they need in a caring, experienced and positive community.
All SAFE programs are offered free of charge.
