Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT HAPPENS IF I WANT TO REGISTER?
You can either call the office directly or send an email and one of our trusted team will contact you within a week. If after discussion you wish to do the course we will arrange a suitable time for a phone interview, that will take approx 15 – 30 minutes.
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO INTERVIEW ME?
This allows for us to ensure that it is the right course for you as well as ensuring that it is the right time. Each course facilitators need to know who they are facilitating to ensure that each participant receives the help they require.
WHO SEES MY INTERVIEW?
Your interviewer and both of your course facilitators (each interview will be handled with utmost confidentiality)
WILL ANYONE ELSE KNOW I AM DOING THE COURSE?
Only those you meet within the group. As to who knows outside of the group would be entirely up to you. It is only your story to share.
WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY PERSONAL DETAILS?
Your personal details (including interview) are treated with utmost confidentiality.
WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY IN THE GROUP?
During our first session we ask each participant to read and sign a confidentiality agreement, to ensure everyone is aware of the importance of each other's privacy. It is reinforced that what is said and who is in the group - stays in the group.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN THE EACH COURSE?
8-10 participants.
WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE OF THE PARTICIPANTS?
All ages are welcome - from 18 to 80. We do run youth courses (aged 18-25yrs)
WHO ELSE WILL BE THERE?
In the Introductory Course you will have 1-2 professional facilitators (and/or a support worker). In the Door of Hope course there are 2 trained facilitators and 1 support worker.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A SESSION?
Introductory course: Group discussion led by facilitators with light refreshments. Door of Hope is similar however a DVD is viewed prior to discussion.
CAN YOU COME EVEN IF YOU ARE SEEING A PSYCHOLOGIST OR COUNSELLOR PRIVATELY?
Absolutely! We encourage those who need specific help, to continue or even commence seeing a professional whilst doing the course. Having one-on-one counselling is important when facing this issue. Most people find it helpful to be able to discuss and process what they have learned in the course.
DOES IT MATTER HOW FAR ALONG YOU ARE IN THE HEALING PROCESS?
Our intention is to help meet each participant where they are at. Some have had a lot or little counselling some are only just beginning the journey. Previous participants have indicated that they have found the courses helpful and necessary to their journey.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
All SAFE courses, workshops and programs are at no charge to the participant.
HOW LONG IS EACH SESSION?
Generally a 2 hour session with break (1 session per week)
