Street Teams
Every week, hundreds of faithful volunteers hit various Streets in Sydney visiting residents in some of the marginalised neighbourhoods. People in these areas face challenges ranging from loneliness and isolation, to crime and vandalism.
Street Teams help people by offering practical support such as gardening, cleaning and maintenance that builds a bridge with the residents, supporting and empowering them to make the next step forward in their life. We link with other CityCare initiatives to help some of the physical and social issues people face, such as drug and alcohol dependency, unemployment, relationship and family problems and emergency assistance through our Foodbank.
Teams meet on Saturdays at 9am – 12:30pm at the following campuses:
- South West Campus – visits Airds
- Hills Campus – visits Prospect, Bidwill, Doonside, Riverstone and Telopea
- City Campus – visits Redfern, Waterloo and Maroubra
- St Marys Extension Service – visit Wilmot
- Merrylands Extension Service – visits Merrylands
- Northern Beaches Extension Service – visits Naraweena
- St Leonards Extension Service – visits St Leonards

Street Beat (Homelessness)
Homelessness is a real issue in Australia that affects tens of thousands of people. Street Teams also visit people who live life on the streets an in crisis refuges in our inner City and in Parramatta. We provide peer support and assist people who want a way out to connect to avenues of help and support, such as accommodation services.
Justice Projects (One day Projects)
Justice Projects are large-scale projects that help organisations and families in tough situations by intervening and helping create community transformation. The goal is to inject hope and life into people’s circumstances through our energetic and generous volunteers, ranging from 10s to 1000s for various projects. We also try to involve the groups and people we are helping with the desire of create ownership in the projects being carried out. Projects in the past have included High School Renovations, suburb graffiti blitz’s and many home renovations for families facing hard times.
Response Teams (Short Term Crisis)
People going through short-term crisis such as illness or a death in the family need extra care and support in the midst of their circumstance. Response teams visit these people and provide practical support such as help with meals for the family, help around the house and most importantly personal support during their hard time. Teams are available during the week and on the weekends.
