Drug & Alcohol Service

d.a.r.e.  Drug and Alcohol service is one of a range of community services provided by Hillsong CityCare and currently provides specialist services to people living in Waterloo, Blacktown and the wider community. Our passion is to connect with people who have alcohol or other drug issues, to change mindsets and empower people to gain vision and hope and do life with strength and purpose.

d.a.r.e.’s aim is to facilitate people’s:

  • release past negative behaviours &
  • excel in all spheres of life

d.a.r.e. is a member of the Network of Alcohol & Drug Agencies (peak body for Non Government Organisations in NSW), has been successfully reviewed by Quality Management Services NSW and is committed to providing quality care based on best practice principles.

Services currently provided by d.a.r.e. are:

  • Assessment and referral
  • Individual case management and support
  • Referral pathways for dealing with anxiety & depression
  • Group programs:
    • Getting into Life – relapse prevention & lifeskills
    • c.a.l.m. - controlling anger & living mightily
  • Anger resolution
  • Telephone support for individuals and families
  • Quit smoking program
  • Referral Options for Specialist services including Medical & Counselling services

 

Main client groups

d.a.r.e. provides services for clients with a variety of  drug and alcohol related issues. Clients who come into the service are both male and female, over the age of 18 with alcohol, opiate or cannabis related use or dependence. Clients are either self referred or may also come from other community agencies, local doctors, correctional services and probation and parole. d.a.r.e. is committed to equity and access to all individuals and is totally non-discriminatory.

  • Intake is on a voluntary basis.
  • Intake procedures include phone or face to face by d.a.r.e. staff, with assessment interviews booked by appointment only basis.
  • Clients with mental health issues are assessed and case managed where appropriate, in a shared care arrangement with their treating practitioner / mental health worker.
  • Home detoxification assessment by the Specialist Medical Practitioner follows the guidelines set by NSW Health and Sydney South Western Area Drug Health Services.
  • All services provided are free of charge for people on Centrelink benefits.
